Kairos Forensics Cryptographic Evidence Platform
About - Kairos Forensics
About

Built for the work
we already do

Kairos Forensics exists because the evidentiary gap in atrocity investigations is not a technology problem waiting for technologists to notice it. It is a field problem that has been visible to investigators, prosecutors, and forensic practitioners for years - and that no one with the right combination of operational experience and cryptographic expertise has addressed.

We are a pre-development cryptographic evidence platform and forensic consulting firm. The platform does not yet exist as software. Its design is informed by field applications across military, human rights, and investigative work, including active conflict zones, mass grave sites, and post-conflict documentation environments.

Kairos Forensics Inc. is a Delaware C-Corp, incorporated 2026.

Laura C. Smith

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Laura Smith is the founder of Kairos Forensics and the architect of its platform and consulting practice.

She is the Research Director at Khthon, a forensic human rights organization conducting active mass graves documentation and field investigation across more than 30 countries. She leads international investigation teams and is a direct user of every workflow Kairos is built to serve. Kairos is not a platform designed for investigators - it is a platform designed by one.

Her background spans intelligence analysis, post-quantum security, geospatial systems, and technology startups.

Kairos is the direct product of what she has seen fail in the field - evidence that does not survive the courtroom because no cryptographic infrastructure existed to protect it at the moment of capture.

William J. Waldman

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

William Waldman is the Co-Founder & CTO of Kairos Forensics. He is a cybersecurity and IT professional with 5+ years of DoD (U.S. Air Force) and civilian experience spanning technical and non-technical disciplines: GRC, SOC operations, incident response, network forensics, endpoint defense, and cloud security across enterprise and non-enterprise environments. At Kairos he owns the backend architecture and builds the platform.

Cryptographic infrastructure
as accountability infrastructure

Impunity for atrocity crimes persists not because perpetrators are invisible, but because evidence collected in the field does not survive the courtroom. Kairos addresses the structural gap - the absence of a cryptographic chain from the moment of capture to the day of verdict.

This is not a humanitarian project with national security adjacency. It is national security infrastructure with humanitarian application. Impunity for war crimes by state actors erodes the international legal order, emboldens future aggression, and creates conditions for continued conflict. Better evidence integrity is a defense investment.

01
Better evidence integrity at the point of capture
02
Stronger admissibility in legal proceedings
03
More individual prosecutions succeed
04
Demonstrable accountability for atrocity crimes
05
Credible deterrence of future perpetrators
06
Reduced incidence of atrocity crimes
